Brahma Kumaris in St. Petersburg, Russia, for UN World Peace Day
Women organizations of St. Petersburg, Russia — within the framework of the Second Eurasian Women’s Forum — organised a Large-Scale Action for the UN International Peace Day at the St. Petersburg Cathedral square in the Peter and Paul fortress.
The main speaker of the event was Ms. Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Federation Council (Upper House) of the Federal Assembly of Russia (speaking on video shot), and Ms. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance (India). Ms. Sarah Harder, President of the National Peace Foundation (USA) was the Eminent guest.
The Second Euroasian Women’s Forum (http://eawf.ru/en2018/) met many women leaders of the world. On the Peter and Paul Fortress they symbolically released hundreds of doves of peace. The Brahma Kumaris officially took part in the event as one of the prominent organizations of Russia, as a member of the St. Petersburg Women’s Alliance.
Rajayogini BK Santosh, Director of the Brahma Kumaris in Saint Petersburg, and other BKs became part of this important event that united women, mothers and sisters, in their commitment to the cause of peace and non-violence. After the main Forum, about 40 heads and representatives of women organisations supported the pledge for promoting Peace through their life and activities. Soon afterwards, a number of people of different diasporas surrounded BK Santosh and BK students in order to receive blessings of peace and power. The event was widely covered by Russian and international media.
