Brahma Kumaris Undertake Plantation Drive in Memory of Dadi Prakashmani
The Brahma Kumaris of Kathua under the guidance of BK Veena, Head of Brahma Kumaris Centres of Kathua District, organised a plantation drive on Sunday. Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Director, Social Welfare, Jammu, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. BK Veena said that the plantation is being conducted in the memory of BK Dadi Prakashmani whose remembrance day is celebrated every year on 25th August. Dadi Prakashmani was the former head of the Brahma Kumaris organisation which has consultative status with UNESCO.
The multi-locational plantation drive started from Housing Colony, Kathua, where Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Director, Social Welfare, Jammu, and BK Veena planted Neem and Amla saplings along with Som Nath, Retired Chief Horticulture Officer, Jai Bharat Raju and Anjana Manyal – both senior lecturers, BK Suresh bhai and others.
Thereafter plantation was carried out on the premises of Shiv Temple, Barwal, where about three hundred plants were planted and distributed among the of Barwal and Jandore. Karam Singh, former Naib Sarpanch of Barwal Panchayat, and other senior citizens of Barwal took an active part in the plantation drive at Barwal. Then the plantation was carried out in Nagri Parole by BK Veena and other brothers and sisters.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Director, Social Welfare, appreciated the gesture of the Brahma Kumaris, whose aim is promoting a green and clean environment. He hoped that the organisation will continue with its noble endeavors in the future also.
BK Veena said that their organisation in Kathua undertakes a plantation drive every year to mark the Remembrance Day of the late Dadi Prakashmani and in the process has planted and nurtured hundreds of plants.
BK Suresh, Sita Kant bhai, BK Mohinder bhai, BK Sisters Mannu, Priyanka, Pallavi, Jyoti, Rimpi and the residents of Barwal (mostly women) were among those who took part in the plantation drive. BK Veena further shared that the Brahma Kumaris Centre of Kathua, like other centres of the Brahma Kumaris, will undertake plantation and other social activities up until the Remembrance Day of Dadi Prakashmani.
